About Me
Hi there,
I’m Gwen Rankin — founder and creative behind Capegypsea, a Cape Town, South African-based boho lifestyle brand inspired by slow living, sustainability, meaningful gifting, and handmade design.
Capegypsea is my passion, an expression of a free-spirited, eco-conscious lifestyle rooted in nature, creativity, and intentional living. Blending natural textures, coastal influences, and thoughtful craftsmanship, I create pieces designed to be felt, gifted, and lived with.
Most days I can be found designing and creating for the collections, pouring over like-minded articles, drinking coffee, working on photography projects, and exhibiting my photographic works through galleries such as Expo Metro. Other days are spent wandering with my husband Tim, a professional drummer, who fills my life with laughter, love, and music. Together we fill time with our families, our cats, road trips, beach days, coffees, and concerts.

Capegypsea is a boho, coastal-inspired lifestyle brand rooted in slow living, sustainability, and thoughtful design.
Each piece is created with intention—blending natural textures, handmade detail, and a sense of calm that connects back to nature.
Nature represented by the Nautilus, a symbol of creativity and continuous growth, as we move through life our minds grow and shape with new ideas. The age of awareness, I feel we are in now, shows the growing potential for us as human beings to reshape our ideas and behaviour patterns to have a more positive impact on our earth.
As a symbol of strength and timelessness I feel the Nautilus embodies the essence of Capegypsea. With each new chamber the Nautilus creates a new space for growth, in each of my collections my intention is to create space for further growth and expression within sustainable lifestyle choices.
